Woodpecker Truck is a major truck sales company based in Pendleton, Oregon. Founded in 1960, Woodpecker Truck has grown from a small family company to a major Northwest point of sale for new and used large trucks and trailers, as well as long or short term rentals. In 2007, CreateSource assisted Woodpecker Truck with custom online rental forms and other applications in a secure environment, creating an easier work flow between the company and prospective customers.

Later that year, CreateSource proposed a revamp of their web site, originally published in 1999. The screen captures you see here demonstrate a few of the key pages. Woodpecker Truck's site requires a little more emphasis on graphics and design than most sites due to the nature of the products and services.

The main page contains a Flash slide show that is completely configurable by Woodpecker Truck via a simple administrative interface. They can browse for pictures to add to the slide show, set the captions, and determine the display sequence. Images are automatically sized and cropped on upload, and active images/captions are added to an XML file. When the Flash object loads, it reads the XML file to populate the slide show and captions. Images are dynamically loaded and streamed into the Flash, keeping the load time of the page quick and lightweight. If Flash is disabled, the SWF Object library displays alternate content, allowing for a graceful degradation for non-Flash browsers.

Basic main page alterations are also incorporated into the administrative area. There is a section for "specials" at the bottom of the main page. The administrative interface allows Woodpecker Truck staff to upload pictures and text for the specials, while maintaining a working link to their point of sales at equipmentrentals.com.
